One of the top contenders at the Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event, Amanda Ross, has sadly had to withdraw from competition

We spoke to Amanda yesterday when she had made the final decision not to head to Adelaide with her 5* horse Koko Popping Candy (Zarzy)

“It’s so difficult” she admits “Zarzy was on great form last week and everything was on track but she was unwell for a couple of days which threw our preparation out and, after discussions with everyone involved, we decided it was better not to risk long travel and a performance that doesn’t show what we can do”

Amanda and Koko Popping Candy have had great results this year at CCI4*-S level and are in with a serious chance for Tokyo selection, but they need a good performance at 5* or CCI4*-L so will now re-route to Wallaby Hill at Robertson in December

“If I started Zarzie in Adelaide and things didn’t go to plan, it would be too close to Wallaby Hill to use that as a back up so we’re staying home and focussing on getting her in fantastic shape for the CCI4*-L in early December”

It a double blow for Amanda who was also a hot contender in the CCI4*-S on RLE Poynestown Will (she had already withdrawn Dondiablo) so now all three horses head to Wallaby Hill in December
