Shane Rose and Ultimate Velocity put on a turn of speed to move into the lead of the CIC3* at the Mitsubishi Motors Australian International 3 Day Event, moving up from third after the dressage into pole position with the second fastest time of the day and finishing on a score of 40.10.

Shane is also in third place in the CCI2* on board Easy Turn and he told us more about the six year old mare and the quirky Ultimate Velocity

“When I got him in January you couldn’t pat him on the neck, you couldn’t touch him behind the saddle, basically you couldn’t move on him. The reason we took a punt on him and bought him is that he’s got a lovely big galloping stride, he’s very scopey, he’s quite adjustable and a lovely jumping horse”

Victoria’s Callum Buczak posted the fastest time of the day, coming home with just 1.2 time penalties on board Matavia Cheval to move from 11th after dressage into second place and Andrew Cooper also moved up, from 12th into third on Oaks Onyx

The overnight leaders Amanda Ross and Dicavalli Diesel, who has just come back to competition after time off from injury, took a more relaxed ride around the park, adding 36.4 time penalties to drop to eighth place and Deon Stokes riding Koyuna Levi, second after the dressage, were eliminated after three refusals
