Christen Lane and Thunder Cat take the CCN3*-S+ win at Hawkes Bay, NZ

Christen Lane riding Thunder Cat put her foot down on cross country in the final phase of the CCN3*-S+ (4* level dressage and show jumping with 3* cross country) at Hawkes Bay in New Zealand to move ahead of the overnight leader Amanda ‘Muzi’ Pottinger and Clarke Johnstone in second place to win the class on a score of 39.6

Christen added just 4.4 time penalties on cross country today to take the win on the 13-year-old gelding that finished second in the CCI4*-S at Puhinui in February while Clarke and Muzi opted for a slightly more sedate pace.

Clarke finished in second place on board his Olympic-hopeful ride Balmoral Sensation, having added 12.8 time penalties and Muzi riding Just Kidding added 27.6 time for third place

The ‘normal’ CCN3*-S class was won by Matthew Grayling riding NRM Trudeau ahead of Clarke Johnstone riding Aces High and Matthew was also victorious in the CNC2*, winning on board Henton Ambassador while Christen Land also picked up second place in this class on Henton Armada

The event also hosted the New Zealand Young Rider One Day Championship CCN3*-S (Charisma Trophy) won by Lilly Anderson and DSE Sunset Pass and the New Zealand Junior One Day Championship (Hoffman Trophy) won by Kelly Clarke riding One Cool Dude

More to come from New Zealand soon ….
