Teaming up at Sydney Eventing Summer Classic

The new concept of a teams competition at the Randwick Equine Centre Sydney Eventing Summer Classic got us thinking about who would team up with who, and of course it struck us that family members would be an obvious choice for a team

And that reminded us of two great rides around the EvA95 at the last Sydney Eventing Summer Classic (yes, remember all that time ago, way back in 2019 before bushfires and Covid stopped play!)

Two sisters, Ruby and Poppie Gorton, had great rides around the EvA95 cross country course and we loved watching their cross country videos. Ruby, now aged 15 years, was riding Summerlee Felline in the JRPT Promotions EvA95D-Junior and finished in sixth place on a score of 38, with just four cross country time penalties added to her dressage score.

Poppie, now 14 years old, was riding Fots Farm I Spy in the Icon Building Group EvA95C-Junior and she took fifth place on 35.2, adding 1.2 cross country time penalties to her dressage score.

The girls were riding in different sections of the EvA95 but had sequential back numbers so zipped around the course almost simultaneously. We couldn’t resist ‘teaming’ them up on video and you can see how Poppie zoomed ahead early in the course but Ruby picked up time towards the end!

A great ride by both girls and you can see their individual cross country rides below

Although entries have closed for the event, here is still time to get your teQ Teams organised for this year’s Summer Classic as teams can be nominated until midnight on Friday
