Megan Jones Impresses at Tonimbuk

Megan Jones and Kirby Park Impress over the new 3* ditch and brush

Megan Jones is a regular visitor to Tonimbuk Horse Trials, making the long journey from South Australia most years and she made it well worth while by taking home the rug (and glittery garland) in the Lowe Farms CIC3*  this year.

Megan’s Kirby Park Impress led from the start on a dressage score of 42.10 (watch Megan's test here) and added just one rail in the evening indoor showjumping on Saturday night. They then blitzed around Ewan Kellett’s new CIC3* course with the fastest time to add 12 time penalties’, despite Impress being a bit of a ‘lazy’ horse who would be much happier to stop and have a cup a tea!

“I landed, kicked on and galloped today just so she knows that by the time we get to Sydney International 3 Day Event, she has to be fast”

Sydney is very much in Megan’s focus but she does have to work in a wedding leading to up it and hopefully Shane Rose will oblige with some accommodation .........

Rob Palm and Halcyons Dark Secret

While Megan is focused on Sydney 3DE, the second placegetter Rob Palm is focused on Melbourne International 3 Day Event in June and opted to take it a little more slowly, adding 24 time penalties on Koko Story. This moved them up from sixth after the dressage with Rob blaming himself for their score and they added just one rail in the show jumping

Rob jumped one of only two clear rounds in the show jumping on his other 3* horse Halcyons Dark Secret, who finished sixth but will hopefully be one for the future. He also had plenty of rides in other classes, including a second place in the EvA 105 Section B on Nina Griffiths’ Mr Zizou while Nina is recovering from a broken leg

No, that's not Kirby Park Impress wearing the 3* rug but Andrew Cooper's Double Vision, CIC1* winner who stood in. Rob also won the Cardinia Shire Best Local Rider Award (below)
