Murray was born in Western Australia and moved east at the age of three where he grew up in the seaside town of Ocean Grove in Victoria.

Murray’s father Robin was an eventing and show jumping competitor who produced horses such as Four Corners that went on to compete for America in Show Jumping at the Olympics.

For Murray, the determination to commit to the sport and industry came after success on a horse called Kronos who won the National Pony Club Eventing Championships and various Equestrian Australia events up to 1* level. This success encouraged Murray to make a career out of horses.

For many years Murray was around the fringes of Australian teams, but like so many riders, missed out through luck or circumstance on a number of occasions. By the age of 30 he had produced 15 horses to international level eventing.

After marrying Jade and having 2 children (India and Noah), Murray set about building an equestrian facility where he could train and prepare his competition horses as well as offering agistment, coaching and horse training. Now, after all of this, it is time to compete at the highest level they can.

His ex-racehorse Under The Clocks (named after the Flinders Street Station clocks in Melbourne), known as Ninja, has been brought on in the background over this time with no focused training until reaching 2* level competition. Since then the quality of performance has been steadily rising as Murray and the team started to get more serious.

In the last 12 months Ninja has finished in the top placings at numerous 3* events and topped off 2012 with a third place at the Adelaide International Horse Trials, the only 4* event in the Southern Hemisphere.

There are improvements going on all the time with this combination. They won their only start so far this year with a dressage score of 70% and are jumping with confidence and quality.

Now they head off overseas for the first time to England to compete in the famous Badminton Horse Trials.
