100 days to go to Tokyo 2020

Hello everyone. We are only 100 days to go to Tokyo2020+1!

There are two major excitements for this week - tomorrow I pick up my Tokyo2020 uniform and international competitions are resuming this week!

The State of Emergency in Tokyo was lifted at the end of March, but there are still minor restrictions such as the closing time for restaurants and a 5.000 capacity limit for venues.

To be honest, one of the best decisions I’ve ever made about my life in Tokyo, was to move house in May 2020 as I’m now at a walking distance from the office and can avoid daily public transport.

Finally, after the very scary EHV-1 outbreak, the international events will resume and I’m so looking forward to enjoying some cross country live streaming, especially from Kentucky and Saumur as they are the for sure two of the “big events” in preparation to Tokyo.

Also, as the qualification period is still open, I’m very excited to see who else will qualify.

We are now back in the office full time, waiting to have the confirmation about Covid-19 countermeasures and especially about venue capacity, two major topics that will deeply impact all operations.

The news about overseas spectators not being allowed into Japan was not a good one, even if unavoidable and I’m glad I don’t work for the Ticket department!

Unfortunately, overseas volunteers are also not going to be allowed into Japan for the Games and we are working to find solutions.

We are really in the final stretch before the Games and in only two months we’ll leave the office for good and move into Equestrian Park that will be our base until September, when the Paralympics will end.

Because of a staff shortage I will also work as Paradressage Coordinator during the Paralympic Games and I’m very excited about it as I’m very looking forward to learning something new

Fingers crossed for some news and good updates soon!

Stay safe everyone
