Pratoni 2022 - a new adventure begins for Carola Brighenti

   Back in beautiful Italy!

Hello everyone, me again!

A few months have gone by since my last blog from Tokyo and here I am, writing a new one from Rome, Italy, where I just started my new adventure. My new role is the Sport Manager for the FEI World Championships for Eventing & Driving that will be held in Pratoni in September 2022

The last four months, after coming back from Tokyo have been good; quality time with friends and family and some travelling. It was definitely weird to be back in Italy after so much time in Japan, it certainly took some time to readjust and digest the craziness of the Tokyo 2020 Games.

This is my second week in the office, and we are already in full swing with Test Event being held in May. It is so good to finally work in my home country for a major equestrian event, being close enough to home and surrounded by people speaking my own language for a change!

A new year and a new Championships! This time the FEI World Championships for Eventing & Driving at Pratoni, Italy

The venue of Pratoni has a big place in my heart as I lived just a few kilometres away for six years while at University and competed here many times when I was still riding. Unfortunately, the venue was closed for a few years, but is now open again, providing a major legacy project for future events of all disciplines.

Only 30 minutes away from the centre of Rome, Pratoni is an amazing venue, with great footing and a very good microclimate (I sweated enough in Tokyo!)

This will be my first experience with the discipline of Carriage Driving and I’m very excited about it; the format is basically the same of Eventing, with Dressage, Marathon and then Cones – so I have very high expectations on an entertainment level!

Within the next few weeks we will publish more info on our website www.pratoni2022.it and social media  with specific info dedicated to Volunteers as well!

Take care and I’ll keep you posted with more news next month!

236 days to go!

Carola
