I began riding at the age of 12 when I was convinced to go for a ride to the river with my sister and her friends after a local pony club gymkhana. I had such a good time that I rode my borrowed pony home and have been somewhat obsessed with horses and riding ever since!

I was immediately attracted to eventing, watching every video and reading every book about the subject that I could get my hands on.

After my pony career I was very lucky to have Oakley Vision fall into my lap at the age of 15 and together we went from Pony Club to representing New Zealand at senior level and competing at 4star level.

My first time on the World stage was on the New Zealand team at the WEG in Kentucky where although I didn’t get the performance I was hoping for we won a team bronze medal. It was a fantastic experience and I can’t wait for my next chance to be on the team at the Olympics and Worlds.

For that reason I am now based in the UK with my team of horses along with the rest of the New Zealand squad who are trying to get selected for ‘that event’ at the end of July.

So far 2012 has been somewhat of a trying year but Orient Express, my top horse and WEG partner, feels in very good form and I am very much hoping he stays that way.

In my monthly blog I will share some of the highs and lows of eventing in England and there sure are plenty of both!
