Time spent on the golf course is never wasted

Craig's golfing partner - Pat Cohen on the Hogan hole at Narooma

Maybe it’s something to do with the Hunter Valley or maybe it’s because they are male event riders – either way Craig Barrett and Blair Richardson have lots of things in common. They both live in the Hunter Valley region, they both ride event horses and they are both very bad at sitting down to write a blog!

Oliver was happy on a bike at Mirrabooka but even happier on a horse!

However just because they wont put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard doesn’t mean we give up on getting a blog from them.

In Craig’s case I tracked him down by phone and then somehow managed to chop off the fist bit of his blog when tranfering it from phone to computer ... I blame it on the excitement of finally getting his blog!

Sparkle (above) had a party at Sandhills

So please try to imagine that Craig started off his blog by talking about the 'Sparkle' (Sandhills Brillaire) party that they had after Adelaide before he went onto what the Sandhills Team got up to in December.

As Craig mentions he is without a groom at the moment so he has two positions available for the right person. Here is a summery of what he is looking for:

Head Groom

“I need a Head Groom who is ideally experienced at both home and competition grooming. They need to be comfortable with what is expected at a competition so their plaiting and attention to detail is pretty important. I don’t mind taking on someone with less experience (as long as the basics are there) and they are willing to learn.”

Working Pupil

“I also have a position for a working pupil who might be interested in bringing a couple of horse with them. They would have lessons and be able to go to competitions. I don’t charge my working pupils but they must be happy to work in with the groom, ride other horses and generally help with whatever needs to be done around the place. Both positions are live in.”

Craig was also very excited to tell me about a new sponsor - Prydes - who contacted him following his Adelaide win. Criag has fed Prydes range of feeds for some time and is a big supporter of the company.
