Horses and haystacks

Hey everyone,

It has been an extremely busy time the last couple of months with school, horses and so many other things. I’ve missed a few months of blogs and hopefully you can catch up on some of the ups and downs that are part of my sport.

I had an awesome run during the June/July holidays with Doreen (Rotheswaite Venice Beach) winning the open Pre Novice and Ace (Heart of Hearts) placing 4th in the 1* at TEG. Before heading to Quirindi I had an awesome showjumping lesson with Rod Brown for squad training. He helped me realize the importance of having the right tempo during a Show jumping round. I then finished 8th place and 2nd YR in freezing cold Quirindi CCI 1*! Mum braved the drive home and we just beat the icing up of the roads. This was very exciting as I had never seen snow so close to home!

Next stop, Interschool Eventing States, where Doreen won the pre novice and Ace placed 3rd in the 1*.

Up to here, a dream run and then I stopped my own good fortune by mucking around playing Hide and Seek during the Ekka holiday, climbing a 5m haystack. As if that was not a precarious enough situation, I decided to jump down and landed on an angle on the side of a wooden pallet. I found out I had a grade 2 ligament tear and a bruised bone.

After being told this was a 4 - 6 week recovery process we decided on a “full week” of rehabilitation with sports physio Sean Fyfe, loaded with Nurofen, ice boots on my ankle, heavy strapping and a Moon boot, we set off to Tamworth. My head said no but my heart said go. BIIG mistake. Do not attempt to jump a horse when you only have one ankle that functions properly. I couldn’t put my leg on making it impossible to control my horses properly in the jumping.

So thankful that I can hang onto the memories of a super Inter SchoolNationals week with friends and family, where Doreen finished Reserve Champion in the Pre Novice, 0.07 off first place. She went clear in the show jumping and the girl who won rode a tough and pressure filled clear to stay in first place. Unfortunately Heart of Hearts (aka Ace) did not like the centre line judge in the indoor and he decided that he should add in some of movements of his own. However he did redeem himself cross country and in the show jumping!

I also have some more exciting news our lovely pregnant mare Siri by Clang was put to the son of Jumbo and she just had her baby on Sunday! We bought Siri from Glen Hill Sport Horses in March and she is just a dream and a natural first time mum! Huge thanks to Abbie from Charisma Park Warmbloods for doing a fantastic job with foaling our precious boy! If you are ever looking for a safe and professional environment CPW is a boutique breeding, care and agistment facility, specialising in producing high quality young stock for performance and competition. So excited about this little guy! We are thinking Glen Hill Kahlua as his show name and Lewis as his stable name!

There are a few events left on our calendar with Kooralbyn and TEG (Qld eventing states) coming up, before the end of the year and as I am looking forward to finishing as well as I can.

And I cannot forget my amazing sponsor Promectin Plus Mini who have just been incredible as usual! They sponsored many classes at Interschool Nationals and without sponsors events like this won’t be able to run! My little sister who cleaned up dramatically absolutely loves the rug and the worming pastes that Promectin Plus Mini supplied!

Also in-between all this crazy horse stuff I was lucky enough to have been picked as a 2015 Priceline Girlfriend Model Search National Finalist. I flew back and forth to Sydney for the photoshoots and it has been an amazing experience! So have a look in the latest Girlfriend Mag!!
