The Twomey Stables

This is our first blog for An Eventful Life and we are looking forward to sharing the life and times in the Twomey stables with you.

SS Welfin Angel looking pretty smart

2013 started with a bang for us. The usual Christmas lull was definitely missing this year and we ploughed through the Christmas season with a full stable of clients' horses in work. John has donned his dressage tiara and been out and about with some fancy young horses, enjoying some great success with Andrea Beatty’s Welt Muzik, Cath Dawson's Welfenangel, and Dianna De Silvia's Sareena.

One of our young riders, Ryan Haste (pictured below), enjoyed a great win at Wallaby Hill in his first ever eventing competition … Well done Ryan!

We had an interesting few days instructing at the Coonabarabran Young Rider Clinic … the same fabulous people as last year but conditions were very difficult for everyone with the bush fires right on our doorstep! They are definitely made of strong stuff out there, the clinic proceeded with barely an interruption despite some nervous times!

We are looking forward to getting a lot more clinics up and running this year, with our first clinic of the year being held at Avondale Pony Club for Waringah Dressage/Northside Riding Clubs.

On the horse front Wade Equine Highly Recommended has had a lovely summer break and will be doing Melbourne International Three Day Event in June.

John Twomey and Flaunt It

Flaunt It will now become a full time dressage horse

We have made the very difficult decision to retire one of our stars, Wade Equine Flaunt It, from eventing. He will now turn his hand to a dressage career (I will need to work doubly hard to convince him he can do more than just seven one time changes!) and also enjoy some showjumping.

With the retirement of Flaunt It there is definitely room in our stables for some young stars to take his place. So on that note we are looking for  owners/ investors who would be interested in partnering with us to produce promising  horses to their full potential, with an eye to representing Australia at the Olympic Games in Rio. Please feel free to contact us to discuss the possibilities.

We are very grateful for the support of our long term sponsors Wade Equine Horse Coaches and National Saddle Centre NZ. We are also very excited about our new sponsor, Racing Blue STORM. This product gave us excellent results in the lead up to Adelaide 4* at the end of last year.

Look forward to catching up next month.
