April will be a BIG month

So we had a pretty busy three weeks with three events in a row, the LOGAN FLOATS REYNELLA HORSE TRIALS being the last one.

It was a good event with Floyd (Kirby Park Allofasudden) once again winning the CNC*** class from start to finish with another clear show jumping round. Jester had the weekend off after his mighty effort at Tonimbuk the weekend before (much to his displeasure seeing all the horses load up on the truck and he was left behind two days in a row!)

James, my working student, had another good run on Kirby Park Irish Tom and had a few time faults on cross country but a super clear show jumping round in the CNC*. It was honestly the biggest, squarest One Star track I had ever walked!!

I had a catch ride in the CNC* on a horse having his first One Star start and after a better than expected dressage test and good confident cross country round he was lying in 5th place but after he was looking a little overwhelmed by what he had just achieved his owner and I decided that the show jumping was going to be a bit much for him! So we gracefully withdrew him.

Wallace (the stallion aka Kirby Park Irish Apollo) was a star. He over jumped every jump at Tonimbuk in the Preliminary so I was a bit worried that he may have scared himself. But no, he jumped much better - only 1 meter above the fences not 2 meters!! I still had a one steering issue off the bank to the arrowhead;  I had neglected to remember this was a combination at Reynella and I had practiced drums on the arena but nothing yet out in the cross country paddock so  that’s this week’s job.... but other than that I was so happy with him.

Chooch (Kirby Park Irish Empress) decided to have a little foot abscess on Friday so she didn't get to run at all :( and I was very sad as she was so amazing at Tonimbuk. With a little help from my EQUISSAGE we managed to get the little tiny droplet of pus out and she was sound on Sunday night.. ahhhh....   but that’s horses for you.

Our next outing is a 4 day clinic at Gunnamatta in Victoria from 31st March to 3rd April then our state championships at Kirkcaldy CIC on April 7/8th. April is a big month with Camperdown and the next weekend Grand Cru then Sydney 3DE and this is the big one. Sydney is basically our only selection event in Australia for London this year so everyone and I mean EVERYONE is going to be there....... it’s going to be cut throat competition I can tell you now.

A HUGE thank you must go out to my wonderful H.T.B. James Deacon owner of LOGAN FLOATS AUSTRALIA for his continuing support of eventing in Australia, he is once again sponsoring events the country over.

See you soon
