Clayton Fredericks holds the lead at Le Pin

CIC1*

The Olympic champion Michael Jung (GER) riding Der Dante managed to beat Clayton’s dressage score from yesterday to be on a dressage score of 34.4 but Clayton and Sorrento, who scored 39.1,  returned the compliment with a clear round in the showjumping. This meant that Clayton regained the lead when Michael incurred four faults in this phase.

70% of the riders did their showjumping today and the remaining riders in this class will complete the showjumping phase tomorrow morning.

The cross country starts at midday tomorrow with Clayton the first rider on course. Arthur Bonneau (FRA) is currently in third place with his six-year-old Dutch horse Beauty Boy. Australian rider Erin O’Neill is currently in 25th place riding Short Black on a score of 49.7, having had a clear round showjumping and Clayton is also in 84th place riding Mr Sydney Rocks on a score of 59. With 140 riders, this is a big class!

CIC2*: Clayton again

Clayton took an early lead this morning riding Nikki Brooks’ Brookleigh on a dressage score of 36.9, just 0.9 pt better than British rider Pippa Funnell with her horse Billy Landretti who missed out on selection for London 2012 due to injury. They are the only two riders on a sub-40 score among the 65 riders who have already completed their dressage phase with the rest of the dressage phase taking place tomorrow. Jeremy Beatrix (FRA)/Misleading de Gontery are 3rd, Thibault Valette (FRA)/Qing du Briot 4th and Michael Jung (GER)/Rocana TSF 5th. Australian Sam Griffiths riding the seven-year-old Favorite Z owned by Sue Brendish is currently in 6th place on a score of 44.7.
