Want to ride at Burghley?

On the final day of the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, 300-500 riders participating in the SEIB Burghley Sponsored Ride will enjoy a 12km leisure ride viewing the huge fences and exploring the tracks and pathways of the Burghley Estate. This will be the thirteenth year of the sponsored ride and the cumulative proceeds for charities so far is over £160,000

On the day horses and riders of all ages, sizes and abilities gather and park in a specially allocated area of Burghley Park and are marshalled on the ride circuit in groups for the ride which takes place in  group sessions between 9.30am and 1.00pm. The tracks take riders onto the cross country course which, just the day before, will have seen some of the best eventers in the world competing in the 4* competition. Riders can walk or trot around the fences and enjoy the experience of seeing the massive fences first hand from the back of their own horses! The ride then continues, clearly marked and marshalled, onto tracks not normally open to riders. The ride usually takes about 1.5 hours and although there is no jumping, there is a chance for a canter on the open parkland off the track.

A minimum donation of £30 per rider is required with entries closing on Friday 29th August 2014 and thanks to the support of South East Insurance Brokers 100% of the entry money goes to charities. There are SEIB completion rosettes, photographs to purchase and two special Burghley silk scarf prizes for highest amounts raised!
