Australian rider Chris Burton took the CIC 2* honours at Les Etoiles de Pau today on his horse Graf Liberty. Chris won the class on his dressage score of 40.7, just 0.3 penalties ahead of Olympic champion Michael Jung and Fischer Rocana FST.

The leader after dressage, Mark Todd riding Regent Lad had a few faults on cross country yesterday to push him back to fifth place but a clear show jumping round on the handsome grey horse saw him finish in third place overall.

There were a few eventful moments during the cross country on Saturday for this class, especially at the second water jump (Fence 13) which wiped out several consecutive riders,  prompting the decision of course designer, Pierre Michelet, to alter the course.

Sadly Chris is no longer competing in the 4* class, having retired his horse Underdiscussion during the cross country phase but this no doubt is a good consolation and sees the end of a very successful season for Chris and his team of horses
