Clayton and Lucinda Fredericks are the first, and likely to be the only married couple to be nominated for the same eventing team for London. If confirmed today by the AOC this will be the second time they have both represented their country together and they are hoping, with the other team members, to improve on their last team win of Silver in Beijing in 2008.

Clayton and Lucinda have been nominated for the team along with Andrew Hoy, Shane Rose and Chris Burton to complete the Australian Squad. The news that they had been nominated for the team was broken to Clayton and Lucinda on the 19th June by Equestrian Australia and the final team decision will be officially confirmed by the Australian Olympic Committee on Friday 22nd June following a 48 hours appeals time.

Lucinda made a late bid for selection with a strong result at Luhmulen last weekend with Flying Finish and is over the moon to be nominated for the team. Lucinda commented “Wow, I wasn’t expecting another chance, here we go London”. She added “Flying Finish is the first gelding I have ridden at 4* level for 10 years and I am really looking forward to the possibility of riding him at the Olympics this year.”

Clayton who will be riding Bendigo if chosen on Friday, has had a fantastic comeback at Renswoude following his fall at Saumur taking 1st and 2nd place. He commented “I am thrilled to finally receive the team nominations, however we still have to wait for confirmation on Friday and then there will be 5 weeks to go where I, along with the other team members, will be working really hard to ensure a great performance at the Olympic Games. “
