Eventing Victoria kicks off with mass Combined Training

Eventing Victoria has announced that it is kicking off activities with the Off The Track Eventing Victoria Combined Training Day on August 1st. It is a clever concept designed to get everyone back in the eventing groove around the State on the same day

The concept is simple; nine venues will run a combined training activity on August 1st with all entries through the one portal. Entries will be capped at 90 riders per venue and most venues are offering levels EvA80-4*. The venues are spread around Victoria with Colac, Elcho Park, Werribee Park, Avenel, Candlebark, Pakenham, Tonimbuk, Mildura and Oxley taking part

It is a great way to celebrate the Australian horse’s birthday on August 1st!

Despite new announcements made by the Victorian Premier that some restrictions will be brought back in, Eventing Victoria’s Janet Houghton is hopeful that all will still go ahead

“Even with the new tightening of restrictions I think we are good to go” says Janet “We have had huge interest in the many cross country clinics that have been on offer so we were a little wary of offering one competition at one venue. Spreading the venues allows riders to do it in one day and hopefully travel less distance”

“This will give our Eventers the opportunity to get out in a competition environment. The combined effort also gives our Organising Committees the opportunity to test their implementation of Covid-19 guidelines on a smaller scale”

To avoid the need to refund should further restrictions be brought in, entries will not open until July 8th. The organisers will be taking precautions to follow Government guidelines with an aim of riders completing within three hours, dressage tests will be scanned and delivered electronically, and presentations will be virtual
