Get ready for Osberton

Kitty King and Ceylor LAN are just one of the high profile past stars

It’s nearly time for Osberton International Horse Trials, a top class eventing competition at CC1* and CCI2* level plus the KBIS British Eventing Young Horse Championships for 4, 5, 6 and 7 year old horses

Qualifying and competing at the Young Horse Championships is the ultimate accolade for many young event horse owners, breeders and riders. There have been many horses that have come through the ranks of the British Eventing Young Horse championships with past stars including Sir Mark Todd’s ride NZB Land Vision, William Fox-Pitt’s WEG silver medallist mount Cool Mountain, Redesigned, Billy Landretti and 2012 Olympic horse Borough Pennyz. The most notable success story of recent years has to be Kitty King and her 3* mount Ceylor LAN who won the 5, 6 and 7 year old Championships consecutively and went on to be the best placed British combination in the recent Blenheim Palace International CCI3*

For those looking to spot talent even earlier there is also the Oakham Veterinary Hospital In-Hand Championships. With the country’s best qualified foals, yearlings, 2 year olds and 3 year olds competing against each other these classes are also very hotly contested and provide a fabulous opportunity to spot tomorrow’s champions – some of them may even be on sale in the Best of British Showcase also being held at the Nottinghamshire venue

But it isn’t just about horses – Osberton provides the perfect opportunity to get ahead with your Christmas shopping. With everything from deli stands selling local produce to internationally renowned clothing brands such as Schoffel and Barbour to jewellery, the shopping will not disappoint! After you have shopped till you drop, the place to drop will be The Duck & Dive Tavern, open all weekend on-site at Osberton in conjunction with Dukeries Brewery and featuring over 50 beers and ciders. Many of these are locally produced and The Duck & Dive is the perfect spot to rest your feet and sample some of Nottinghamshire’s finest ales whilst watching The Rugby World Cup on a big screen in the Tavern throughout the weekend, with the England vs Australia match forming the highlight on Saturday night

An Eventful Life will be bringing you daily photo galleries and updates from Osberton as part of our jam packed October 4* coverage so stay tuned ....
