Swan River Horse Trials 2011 at Brookleigh Estate This Weekend

If you are at a loose end this weekend near Perth then you should head to the beautiful Brookleigh Estate near Perth, WA for the 2011 Swan River Horse Trials. The event features Introductory to CIC*** competition for Junior and Senior riders and has brought over top classes judges from Australia and overseas including Barry Roycroft and respected German judge Gerd Kust. Mr Kust is an international FEI judge who has judged at the Bundeschampionships in Warendorf, the German Championships, European Championships and various other international competitions. He has also trained his daughters up to European Championships level in eventing.

Described by Andrew Hoy, three times Gold Medalist for Australia, as "the finest equestrian training centre in the Southern Hemisphere", the equestrian centre at Brookleigh in Western Australia's beautiful Swan Valley simply speaks for itself. The facilities for horses, riders and visitors are of international standard and the lovely setting and proximity to Perth make it an ideal venue for the horse trials.

This year’s 2* and 3* cross country course has been designed by Ewan Kellet and local Olympic silver medallist, Sonja Johnson is looking forward to a good run on the course. Sonja, who has recently come back into competition after a fractured pelvis calls Brookleigh Estate her second home and her 3* horse, Parkiarrup Illicit Liaison (Ben) is owned by Nikki Brooks, the owner of Brookleigh so there may be some home ground advantage there!

For those who want to enjoy more than just the eventing at the Swan Horse Trials, Brookleigh Estate offers luxury accommodation, health and beauty treatments at their Spa and fine dining at the award-winning Stewart's Restaurant, nestled in the Estate’s vineyard. This is a weekend of horse competition in a world-class setting which is not to be missed!
