Free entry for riders at Wandin Park

Nat Davies Wandin Park

Wandin Park Horse Trials (21st & 22nd March) is tempting the top class riders back to their beautiful venue in the Yarra Valley by removing the entry fees for the CIC3* riders when entries open on 1st February

Over the years Wandin Park, home of John and Angela Anker, has been one of Australia’s top eventing venues and this year will once again host the Australian National Championships, last held here in 2010. The honour roll of past winners includes Capt. Mark Phillips (Novice winner in 1983 riding Country Kilare) who also designed the cross country course in 1993 when the Advanced class was won by Andrew Hoy riding Limerick.

Free entry fees might just be the tempter that interstate riders need to bring them to contest the Championships across a tricky course which is well known for the Quarry complex. New fences are being added to the course designed by Ewan Kellett and this year will see the dressage judges sitting pretty in new judging boxes

For spectators, this is one of the best viewing events in Victoria with the ability to sit at the top of the hill and watch much of the course being tackled.
