Not Kentucky for WEG 2018

Despite the fact that many thought the demise of Bromont as host of the 2018 World Equestrian Games meant that Kentucky Horse Park would be a shoo-in for the job, the State of Kentucky has declared otherwise

In an article on a decision has been made that Kentucky has determined that it would “put the Commonwealth and the taxpayers at enormous financial risk” and “it would be too difficult to pull it together in just two years”

Kentucky hosted the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games at Kentucky Horse Park and did bid for the 2018 Games but lost to Bromont. With Bromont having pulled the plug recently due to financial issues, Kentucky seemed a likely contender to take over the role but they are now focussed on putting together a proposal and improving facilities for the World Equestrian Games in 2022

The venue for the 2022 World Equestrian Games is due to be announced by the FEI in November 2017 while candidates will be announced in December 2016 with completed bids and signed host agreements due in June 2017, according to the FEI.

In the meantime, where are we all going in 2018?
