Shane Rose's first Belton International

Australia’s Shane Rose was one of the first riders into the arena at Belton International this morning and, although it wasn’t the best test ever produced by his 11 year old homebred Shanghai Joe, Shane was happy that he was able to improve the test as they went along. The bit of tension that crept in resulted in a score of 54.10 to currently sit in 30th place with more riders to come in the CIC3* class that is the traditional run up to Badminton in May

Shane flew out to the UK a few weeks ago to be reunited with Shanghai Joe and Virgil who he left in the care of Sam and Lucy Griffiths last year. They had a quick outing at Aldon in Somerset two weeks ago for fifth and sixth places in the Advanced Intermediate and both horses are in good shape for not just Badminton but also Luhmuhlen in June

“The horses are fit and Aldon’s results are testament to the good job that (Sam and Lucy) have done” says Shane who will be flying back and forth between Australia and the UK a bit this year
