Chilli leads the way at Chatsworth

An Eventful Life is videoing all riders on the cross country at Chatsworth - find out more here

William Fox-Pitt and Chilli Morning were off to a good start in the dressage so decided to celebrate with a drink!

William Fox-Pitt got off to a flying start at the Dodson & Horrell Chatsworth International Horse Trials today, leading the Dodson & Horrell CIC3* Section B on his 2015 Badminton winner Chilli Morning. William and the chestnut stallion lead on a score of 37 while Izzy Taylor riding Be Touchable is chasing him on 38.7 and Nicola Wilson riding Bulana on 42.6.

11 more riders take to the dressage arena in the morning in this section and the dressage for the Dodson & Horrell CIC3* Section C also starts tomorrow. The event is a selection trial for 2016 Olympic Games in Rio and competitors from several nations will be hoping that a good performance around Chatsworth’s spectacular cross-country course will help secure a team place.

The first leg of the inaugural Event Rider Masters also commences tomorrow but it is not just the 3* classes that are in the spotlight.  The four sections of CIC1* riders and the Novice classes complete their event with their cross country and show jumping and there is plenty happening in the various areas.

You can get your face painted, join in the Fun Dog Show in the Autarky Arena (do you have the Prettiest Bitch?), do some Maypole Dancing or watch the Dog and Duck Show. Frankly we don’t know how we're going to have time for the eventing ............. tomorrow’s full report and interviews may be a little bit random
