Laura Schroter leads the Smith & Williamson British Intermediate Championship at the Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing after all competitors completed their dressage on Saturday morning

Laura riding the nine-year-old gelding Willem Van Wup scored 25.6 yesterday to lead the class ahead of Pippa Funnell on Maybach (26.5) and two other strong British competitors, Tom McEwen riding CHF Cooliser and Tina Cook riding Killadeas, both on a score of 28.1

Pippa recently had great success show jumping at Hickstead but that hasn’t turned her head from eventing and she put in a lovely test on Marbach towards the end of Friday

Tina Cook was meant to compete just after lunch but traffic snarls slowed her progress to the event so she had a busy end of day as her rides were slotted in at the end. While her ride on Killadeas went smoothly for a top three slot, her ride on Rebeliant was slightly more erratic with the seven year old gelding stretching out almost full in the halt before rein back as if about to relieve himself!

“I wasn’t quite sure what he was doing” laughed Tina afterwards “I just knew his back legs weren’t anywhere near where they should be! Bless him, I asked for rein back and he did it, but I have no idea how he organised his legs underneath him to do it”
