The Brits at Burghley

Oliver Townend is currently in fifth place on MHS King Joules

Heading into the cross country Oliver Townend riding MHS King Joules is the only British rider in the top 10, holding fifth place with a score of 38.1 but Sarah Cohen, Gubby Leach, Francis Whittington, Paul Sims and Ros Canter are all in the top 20

Sarah Cohen is currently in 11th place riding Treason, her only competition horse at the moment as she has her hands full with looking after her young family. Sarah, who used to be the rider for Preci-Spark Event Horses, also has connections to the lovely horse Trevalgar ridden by Katie Roots in Australia and we talked to her after finishing her dressage test

Francis Whittington and Hasty Imp produced a ‘faultless test’ at Badminton this year but there were a few small errors in yesterday’s test, leaving them in 16th place on 46.5

“We pulled it together for a better second half” said Francis, who is now looking forward to today’s cross country. Last year he and Hasty Imp finished 30th after taking the cross country at a leisurely pace
