Happy hunting for The Blue Frontier

Andrew and The Blue Frontier at Burghley

Seven-time Australian Olympian Andrew Hoy has won Burghley twice previously – in 1979 riding Davey and in 2006 on Mr Pracatan - and, although he didn’t quite reach those dizzying heights at this year’s Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials, he was pleased to successfully complete on The Blue Frontier at the horse’s final event

The eye-catching 16 year old Irish Sport Horse gelding The Blue Frontier, owned by Barbara Keller, was originally competed at the Junior and Young Rider European Championships by Polish rider Tatiana Elzanowska and in 2013 he was acquired by Germany’s Sandra Auffarth who took him to 3* level.

Andrew gained he ride at the end of 2014 but the time has now come for a new career for the big grey horse that will be hunted by David Redvers, Master of Fox Hounds with the Ledbury Hunt

“Thrilled to be given the opportunity to hunt the big horse. Big boots to fill and huge honour! #ledburyhedgesherewecome” tweeted David on the Sunday of Burghley as The Blue Frontier jumped his last coloured poles

Although The Blue Frontier is moving on to those Ledbury hedges, Andrew has another up and coming horse owned by Barbara Keller that is equally, if not more, eye-catching in Right To Play’s Jack Sparrow
