Ready for show jumping at Burghley

Pippa Funnell and MGH Grafton Street

An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at

Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials - find out more here

Thirty two horses were presented before the Ground Jury at this morning’s Final Horse Inspection at the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials. The top three sailed through without a problem and will go forward to the show-jumping phase this afternoon which starts at 2:30pm. The USA’s Chris Talley did not present Unmarked Bills, and sadly James Robinson’s Talent was not accepted after being re-presented from the holding box.

Three other horses were sent to the holding box and were subsequently passed: Nicky Hill’s MGH Bingo Boy, Julia Norman’s Carryon Bobby Boy and Gemma Tattersall’s Santiago Bay.

The very popular Ben Hobday and Harelaw Wizard

The crowd were asked to hold their applause for Liz Halliday-Sharp (USA) and Deniro Z who is sensitive to noise, but who seemed much more subdued this morning. Australia’s Bolytair B and Dom Schramm looked particularly good this morning, and looked ready to go round the cross country again. The loudest cheers by far, and some cat calls, came for Ben Hobday and Harelaw Wizard - no prizes for guessing who wins the popularity contest here!

The first group of seven, including Dom Schramm, will show-jump shortly beginning at 11:40am and we’ll have photos and more on our website and Instagram to follow. Congratulations to all the combinations who’ve made it this far, and good luck for the final phase.
