93 horses have passed the first horse inspection for the CCIO4*-L class, incorporating the Series Final of the FEI Eventing Cup, at Military Boekelo-Enschede (NED).
Just one horse was not passed, with the fourteen-year-old gelding Cooley Diamond Dancer, ridden by Ireland’s Tom Nestor, not cleared by the Ground Jury of Andrew Bennie (NZL), Angela Tucker (GBR) and Pollyann Huntington (AUS) while France’s Lisa Gualteri did not present her sixteen-year-old gelding for the veterinary inspection.
Nine teams will contest the FEI Eventing Nations Cup Final (Belgium, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA) with their competition starting in the dressage arena on Friday.
The first day of competition is dedicated to the individual competitors, including two-time winner and World Number One Tim Price (NZL) with Gloire de Marchenval, his wife Jonelle Price with Indian Tonic, and, between them, Belgian defending champion Lara de Liedekerke-Meier, this time riding Call Me Senorita.
Also competing are British Open Champions Zara Tindall and Class Affair, the in-form Tom McEwen with Isa and Izzy Taylor with Barrington Boy. The sole Australian competitor, Lamoza Velisha riding Call Me Cooley, is also in the Thursday draw for dressage.
Tim Price returns with The Highlander as one of the final eight individual competitors on Friday morning, followed by all team riders from nine countries on rotation.
Cross country, which this year runs in the opposite direction, takes place on Saturday followed by the second horse inspection and showjumping on Sunday, when the team and individual winners will be crowned.
