Our First Horse Inspection gallery coming up soon ...

It may be have been a smaller field that presented for the CCI5*-L first horse inspection at the Longines Luhmühlen Horse Trials on Wednesday afternoon but thankfully we finally have a CCI5* competition underway

A total of 25 horses trotted up in front of the ground jury of Anne-Mette Binder (DEN), Dr. Ernst Topp (GER) and Dr. Katrin Eichinger-Kniely (AUT) on the warm afternoon in Germany; 24 of the 25 horses presented were accepted but Clara Loiseau’s Ultramaille is unfortunately already out of the competition

Luckily France's Clara Loiseau also has Wont Wait in the CCI5*

Following a change in Covid-19 travel regulations for elite athletes during the weekend, two UK-based riders who were competing at Bicton International where things didn’t quite go to plan for them, managed to get to Germany at short notice.

Britain’s Emilie Chandler and New Zealand’s Samantha Lissington have now joined the CCI5* start list with Gortfadda Diamond (a combination we’ll be keeping a close eye on) and Ricker Ridge Rui.

"You're keeping an eye on me?" We're a bit of a fan of Emilie Chandler's Gortfadda Diamond (above) and of course, one of the favourites and defending champion with Ascona M, Tim Price

Britain’s David Doel and New Zealand’s Tim Price, both riders with two horses top and tail the 5* dressage, which starts on Friday afternoon while the CCI4*-S Meßmer Trophy competitors, which includes Australia’s Andrew Hoy on two horses, starts on Thursday

Libby Law is on the ground for An Eventful Life after making a quick dash to Europe from Bicton Arena and you can follow all the daily action through our reports and photos in our 5* Member only coverage. Not a member yet? No better time to join us ...

Two American riders will be competing in the 5* - Jennie Brannigan with Stella Artois (above) and Ariel Grald on Leamore Master Plan
