Osberton International Horse Trials returns to the Osberton Estate, Worksop from 26th - 30th September with a new title sponsor at the helm, London Capital & Finance

This year’s London Capital & Finance Osberton International Horse Trials once again includes a show case of young event horse talent in the form of the British Eventing Young Horse Championships for four, five, six- and seven-year-old eventing horses.

The Young Horse Championships have grown year on year with notable Osberton graduates such as British squad representatives Billy The Biz and Ceylor LAN (Rio 2016), and Billy The Red, Bulana and Allstar B (gold medal winners, Strzegom 2017). Ireland’s Rio contestants Cooley Rorkes Drift and Jemilla are also Osberton graduates.

Stuart Buntine, Director of BEDE Events says, “Osberton is such a special event, a lovely end to the season for the topflight young event horses! It is an honour to see so many flourish on the international stage in the years following.”

2018 will also welcome Brightwells Auctioneers to the schedule, they have an enviable pedigree when it comes to selling successful horses  and all be introducing the inaugural Osberton Event Horse Sale this year.

“Selling an Olympic Gold medal winning eventer is our next aim” said Sarah Johnson of Brightwells. Sarah also commented “When doing the groundwork and looking for feedback from the eventing world, we spoke to an awful lot of names, who I’m delighted to say have all collectively given the idea a big thumb’s up, and we’re now hoping, that with their support, that this venture will prove to be something really special, which can only prove to be beneficial, for everyone involved”.

Harry Meade, one of Britain’s leading event riders who represented Great Britain as part of the silver medal winning team at the 2014 World Championships applauded the idea and gave it a seal of approval by saying “Osberton attracts some of the best young horses, and by joining forces with Brightwells, I can see this as an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to buy a future star, and will do all that I can to help promote the venture”.

Local grassroots riders will also be getting in on the action at the Osberton International Horse Trials, with the return of the highly successful Arena Eventing. The appeal of competing on the same turf as their eventing heroes is a great attraction for local riders, offering a behind the scenes glimpse of international eventing. With classes at 90cm and 100cm, riders will be challenged to a full course of show jumps followed directly by a shortened cross country course.
