Preview

Osberton International and Young Horse Championships kick off on Wednesday with a new look calendar this year but back at its traditional venue at the Osberton Estate in Nottinghamshire and the triumphant ‘golden girls’ that made for such a fantastic result at this weekend’s FEI Eventing European Championships at Avenches in Switzerland are all heading to Osberton

With a team gold medal for Nicola Wilson, Piggy March, Kitty King and Ros Canter, as well as individual gold for Nicola, silver for Piggy and bronze for Sarah Bullimore, the result was simply outstanding, while Izzy Taylor also had a great run to finish in tenth place.

Osberton International will provide a fantastic opportunity to see all riders in action and to follow their recent run of success and form.

Said organiser Stuart Buntine: “The result was just outstanding and we are delighted that all six riders head to Osberton International, a great place to continue celebrating their success with their younger horses.

“Osberton is well known for producing future global stars with our many graduates performing on the world’s stage in their more advanced years.”

Nicola’s ride, JL Dublin; Kitty’s grey, Vendredi Biats; Ros with Allstar B; Sarah’s chestnut Corouet and Izzy’s ride Monkeying Around are all Osberton graduates.

Sarah and Corouet won the British Eventing Seven-Year-Old Young Horse Championship in 2018 while Kitty’s ride Vendredi Biats was third the Seven-Year-Old section back in 2016.

Sarah Bullimore and Corouet won the Seven-Year-Old Young Horse Championship in 2018

This year the event will host the Four-year-old Showcase alongside the British Young Horse Championships for 5, 6 & 7YO’s.

The Four-year-old Showcase will be held as the feature class on the Thursday and includes a new dressage test, showjumping and cross-country section incorporating a water jump, bank and ditch

The Five-Year-Old Championship takes place at CCI1* level for the first time, the Six-Year-Old Championship is the CCI2*-YHS and the Seven-Year-Old Championship is the CCI3*-YHS

With the aim of bringing the championships format together the dressage for the Five, Six and Seven-year-olds will run on the Thursday, with cross-country taking place on Friday, rounding off with the show jumping for all three age groups building to a fitting reverse order climax on the Saturday.

There are also the CCI2*-L and CCI3*-L classes, with dressage taking place on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, cross country on Saturday and show jumping on Saturday

We’ll see you there and we’ll have daily updates here on the website. Plus of course, don't forget to stay tuned to our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for video snippets and more during the weekend!
