Aston-Le-Walls (1) ready for the off

An Eventful Life is filming all competitors on cross country at

Aston-Le-Walls (1) & Unaffiliated

With Spring conditions last weekend buoying everyone’s hopes for a successful start to the British Eventing season, it well and truly kicks off this weekend at Aston-Le-Walls Equestrian Centre, one of the best-known eventing venues in England, with Aston-Le-Walls (1) running on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th and Unaffiliated classes having their turn on Monday

The very popular event was over subscribed and, as per the balloting rules, the higher classes take precedence so there will be no BE90 classes run on Saturday, just BE100 and BE100 Open

The classes may only be running at BE90 and BE100 levels at ALW (1) but there are plenty of eventing stars starting their season with young horses and an international cast from Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, Ireland and New Zealand

The Saturday BE100 classes are packed with big names such as Oliver Townend (riding several horses but one that caught our eye is a new ride on Lumina Cola in the BE100 Open), Bill Levett (and his son Joshua), Harry Meade, Sir Mark Todd, Izzy Taylor, Kevin McNab and Kitty King to name a few

The weather forecast for Saturday is good at this point with rain coming later in the evening but Sunday looks a bit damper so we’ll keep our fingers crossed.

The BE90 and BE80 classes on Sunday see riders from the USA and Ukraine join the fray – it’s obviously the See U On Sunday club – with two sections of BE80 (T) and five sections of BE90

On Monday the Unaffiliated classes are running at Intro, Pre-Novice and Novice level

Riders are reminded that the updated vaccination policy is in place across all BE fixtures so make sure you have all your paperwork before leaving home!
