An Eventful Life will be filming all competitors on cross country at

Belsay Castle - find out more here

This year we will be filming the cross country at Belsay Castle for the first time.

Located in Northumberland, the event is organised by Laura and Peter de Wesselow, who live at Belsay, a venue with a wonderful equestrian heritage

Laura and Peter represent the current generation of the Middleton family which has owned the estate for more than 800 years, bred and trained racehorses here in the 18th and 19th centuries and even won the St Leger at Doncaster in 1859 with a horse called Gamester.

The beautiful stables at the Hall are still in evidence as is the old Stallion Park, situated at the bottom of Bantom Hill adjacent to the Castle.

Although a fairly recent addition to the British Eventing calendar, the event has grown strongly in its first five years, attracting top riders as well as up and coming stars to compete at Belsay and hope that one day it will also gain international status

We spoke to Laura at Belton International where her daughter Xanthe was competing and she told us more about what makes Belsay so special (including the corporate hospitality where Peter gives ' everyone a very good party'!)
