If the weather is good, there is no better place to lounge on the lush Scottish grass and watch the International classes perform their dressage tests in front of the backdrop of Floors Castle

This Scottish event features a CCI2*-S and CCI3*-S and the organisers make it viable for the big names to compete at both Floors Castle and Chatsworth International by scheduling the international classes on Thursday and Friday while the National classes mainly compete on Saturday and Sunday. Last year Izzy Taylor took the CCI2* then tootled a few hours south to Chatsworth while the CCI1* went to Germany’s Antonia Baumgart who was at that time based with Chris Bartle in Yorkshire

The event also hosts a qualifier for the British Intermediate Championships and the Scottish BE90 and BE100 Championships at Blair Castle later in the year

      A beautiful spot for dressage

The cross country course designed by Ian Stark runs over flat parkland on old permanent pasture with good spectator viewing, especially around the beautiful water complex. The peaceful lawns behind the Castle provide a stunning backdrop for the International level dressage while show jumping is on the large flat area near the VIP marquee – the place to be seen and enjoy some wonderful hospitality

This year the total cash prize fund for the international competitors will once again be a very generous £7,500, making it well worth the trip north. The winner of the CCI-S3* will take home £1,750 and there will be £750 for the winner of the CCI-S2* thanks to class sponsors Cazenove Capital Management and Scottish Law firm Anderson Strathern LLP who are providing the highest prize money in the country at this level
