Stratford Hills Horse Trials gallops into gear this weekend (19th – 20th June) with bumper entries and spectacular setting.

Set in the heart of Constable country, Hills Farm, Stratford-St-Mary, boasts incredible views of the Dedham Vale and the perfect setting to watch some of the icons of eventing take part.

The organising team are delighted to welcome spectators back for 2021, with online ticket sales open.

Saturday’s BE100 and Novice classes welcome a world class field to the Essex/Suffolk border including:

  • Reigning Badminton Champion & Tokyo hopeful Piggy March
  • British Olympian Gemma Tattersall
  • 5* Champion & London 2012 medallist Caroline Powell
  • Irish rising star Susie Berry

The cross-country course, designed by David Carpenter, this year runs in an anticlockwise direction and makes full use of the terrain and undulations.  With ground preparations well underway and now perfectly timed rainfall the going promises to be good, despite the previously dry weather.

Over the past 18 years the event has run solely for charity and in this more challenging of times nothing has changed.  The SHHT Committee have chosen The Charlie Watkins Foundation as their charity of choice for 2021.  All proceeds from the event and ticket sales go directly to this very worthy charity.

A local charity set up in 2017 by Harry Watkins whose twin brother Charlie sadly took his own life at a young age following the tragic loss of their mother.  Like Charlie, there are so many young people who suffer from mental health issues.  The Foundation aims to raise funds to support young people struggling with mental health and encourages them to talk and to help remove the stigma of mental health.

Spectators must purchase a ticket in advance of their arrival.  These can be purchased HERE with all ticket sales going to charity.  Cross-country will commence at 9.30am on both days and visitors and competitors alike can follow the live scoring HERE
