Sunday at Kelsall Hill

Hayden Hankey and You've Got the Lux at Kelsall Hill (1)

As top-level show jumpers and field masters in the Cheshire Forest for the past three generations the Hankey family are well-known equestrians in the Cheshire area, so it certainly was no surprise to find Hayden Hankey well in the mix at all levels of competition at the Protect My Income Kelsall Hill Horse Trials (1)

39-year-old Hayden has produced some very good horses including Alex Hua Tian’s Olympic horse Don Geniro and Fernhill Fearless who competed at the Olympics for Team USA. His current top horse is the aptly named You’ve Got The Lux, an eight year old mare who has represented Great Britain at the World Young Event Horse Championships at Le Lion d’Angers in 2017 and 2018, that finished fifth in the Advanced Intermediate at Kelsall Hill on Saturday

Hayden added to this good result in the headline class, a win on Fools In Love (Novice Section X), two second places on Bond Girl II (BE90 Section H) and King Ralph (Open Novice), two third places riding Cartown Galaxy (Novice Section V) and Agyness (BE90 Section H) and 15th place on Quanti Du Vi in the Novice Section X, so it would be fair to say that Hayden had a very successful few days at his local event

He told Nick Wood more about his horses and plans for their futures

Another locally based rider also won a class on Sunday with Hannah Bate topping the leader board in the Novice Section U on Tremanton, a seven-year-old mare who has had five top six placings so far this year and now a win

Jackie Taylor accepted the prize on behalf of Hannah as not only a valuable member of Hannah’s support team but also the owner of Tremanton
