Ros Canter and Broadstone Lion Man roared into action on Saturday’s cross country at the Aspen Cooling Osberton (2) International Horse Trials (1st – 4th October 2026).
Leading the way in the Rathbones CCI3*-L after dressage, Ros remained on her score of 24.8 riding the nine-year-old Broadstone Lion Man, ahead of Emma Lawton riding Dinarthall Sea King (26.3) and Emily King riding HG Woods, who also both finished on their dressage scores.
It was a good day for the Antipodes with Australia’s Sammi Birch moving into sixth place of this class riding Parkfield Artie Blou, finishing the day on a score of 30 thanks to a double clear ride around the Stuart Buntine designed course. Sammi won the CCI2*-L here last year on board Parkfield Pumpkin – could she do it again this year on another Parkfield horse in the 3*?
New Zealand also tops the Animalintex CCI1* with Scottish-based New Zealander Annie Broad riding Comme Nicola Z not only leading the way after showjumping but also in third place on Gemini Firebird, thanks to two double clear rounds. Another Scottish rider, Morven Pringle, splits Nicola’s pair with Twisted Girl Z in second place, just two penalties behind Nicola as they head into Sunday’s cross country.
After plenty of equal scores in the dressage, Will Rawlin and Imogen King are continuing the equal battle in the Arena Saddles CCI2*-L, even after cross country! Will riding Mackenzy and Imogen on Camaro both remained on their dressage scores of 30.1 while Harry Dzenis riding Arkadium Moved up from equal fifth place into third on 31.8.
The top two in the Project Pony supported CCIP2*-L also remained on their dressage scores with Gracie Cowley riding Diamant De La Cour leading the way (28.3) ahead of Eva Bryant riding Diego De St Georges (29.6) with Charlotte Hawtin now in third place (32.0).
Laura Erith continues to lead the Osberton Agria Amateur BE105 riding Kilbunny Eisteach, Emily Lawson and Faerlie Frisky lead the Pony Club 110 Nations Cup and Isabella Moreton riding Bannow Bee Silver Detroit on top of the PC-105NC after showjumping with all three classes heading out on cross country on Sunday.
