The Kentucky Stadium stands empty

The Kentucky Horse Park last year throbbed with spectators, riders and their support teams as the 2019 Land Rover Kentucky Three Day Event took place from 25th – 28th April 2019

This year the Rolex Kentucky Stadium stands empty under bright blue skies and the white dressage arena, that should have welcomed the competitors in for the first phase of this year’s event today, sadly has not a horse in sight

Samantha Clark, who would have been covering the event in Kentucky for us again this year, popped out to take a few photos of how the Kentucky Horse Park looks when the ‘Best Weekend of the Year’ becomes a very empty one on the eventing calendar

Defending Kentucky champion Oliver Townend, who was in with a chance of three wins in a row on Cooley Master Class, the very in-form Piggy French and Australia’s Sammi Birch were among those from the UK who would have been competing at Kentucky this weekend, but can now only wonder what would have been ….

“Today would have been the first day of Kentucky Three Day Event and Cooley Master Class’ chance to defend his titles and try for a third consecutive win. We are all trying to stay positive at the moment, but some days are harder than others!” says Oliver on his Instagram page

We’ll be throwing back to past Kentucky events over the next few days so stay tuned on our social media sites and here for more memories and moments from Kentucky!

Let's start with the wrap up from 2018 when Oliver Townend started his winning streak on Cooley Master Class, ending the dominance of Michael Jung and fischerRocana who had won for the previous three years
