Team Sweden at Tryon

Team Sweden are singing in the rain!

The Swedish team come to the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon off the back of a very successful 2017 European Championships where they took team silver

Niklas Lindback, Ludwig Svennerstal, Ludwig Svennerstal and Louise Svensson Jahde were part of that team in Poland and they are joined on the Swedish team here by Anna Freskgard

The team are currently in 12th place after the dressage phase with Anna riding Box Qutie in 42nd place (32.20), Niklas riding Focus Filiocus also on 32.20 in 43rd, Louise riding Waikiki 207 in 45th (32.40) and Ludwig Svennerstal and Stinger are in 53rd (32.90)

Sara Algottson Ostholt, riding as an individual, is currently the top placed Swedish rider after dressage, in 5th place with a score of 25.90 on board Wega, her silver-medal mount at the London 2012 Olympic Games

One of Sweden’s big assets at major championships is the involvement of Yogi Breisner, who led the British eventing team to four successive Olympic team medals as well as five European team titles

After leaving his role as the British Eventing Performance Manager in 2016, Yogi returned to his Swedish roots as an advisor to the Swedish equestrian Olympic national coaches and coordinators for jumping, dressage and eventing with a view to eventual retirement

But it seems that watching Championships from an armchair with a glass of wine is still a way away for Yogi, as Samantha Clark found out
