The trouble with trucks

      Whoops - dressage at Albury!

The BIG Sydney selection event is closing in and the excitement is intensifying!!! Mustang had a beautiful run around Albury event, performing well in the dressage only with a couple of mistakes (cantering in the corner after tracking left at C does not get the best marks or put the judges in  agreement for the rest of the test scoring a 69% & 62%).

On cross country and Mustang puts on another great display of his experience and ability, clear and second fastest run of the day even with throwing a shoe half way around! Bang bang and the shoe is back on just in time for the trot up! We jumped a nice round in the final phase just tapping the second fence down unfortunately but with the 4th place over all we were very happy! End of a big day and time to make the 6.5 hour trip back home which was all good until some hose in the exhaust system blows a whopping hole in it and the truck is making a noise like a jet plane- unfortunately it wasn't travelling like one! Any conversation involved sitting on top of each other yelling to be heard!

So to the mechanic the little old truck goes and it’s about 10 minutes until I get the dreaded call!

"I found the main reason for all the noise and can be fixed but the rest of the exhaust system is not real good". Rust here, holes there and there. It’s all that good rust that’s holding it together! New pipe so it doesn't make such a racket and I’m sure it will still get me to Sydney. Thanks! :)))

We also had an awesome day at Equestriad Jump Club. I took Mustang for some fitness work along with two young fillies owned by Penny and Marg Ledner out for their first big day at a show. They performed very well and it is a very satisfying feeling when the young horses learn their job well and enjoy themself. A bit like taking your child off to school for the first time and they are a bit worried but they come home with the biggest grin on their face!

The next 10 days are full on training, practicing, washing, cleaning etc to get everything at its best for our biggest competition yet!!!!

Cheers Em
