Congratulations Megan and James

On a perfect summer afternoon in a beautiful setting at the Jones family property, "Kirby Park," Olympic equestrian Megan Jones became the new Mrs James Deakin.

As a good friend and close equestrian acquaintance of Megan's for 30 years, I have witnessed her develop into the positive, successful lady we all know her to be. Yesterday she was an absolutely stunning bride. As a bride-to-be myself this coming July, I also took a keen interest in how the wedding was orchestrated!

Arriving cantering down the driveway on her main equestrian 'man' , Kirby Park Irish Jester, side-saddle on a pony pad, Megan dismounted to meet her father, Peter to make her walk down the aisle.

Aside from the vows, Features of the beautiful ceremony were the family lighting of candles, the reading from Corinthians "Love is eternal" and a stirring rendition of "When you say nothing at all" by James's mother, Sandra as the new couple signed the wedding certificate. The pair of terriers dressed in their tuxedo jackets and the family dog also made cameo appearances (interfering with the ceremony before their respective removals!) to keep the atmosphere of the whole affair fun and bubbly.

Speeches at the evening reception followed in a lively, fun-filled manner eliciting many laughs from guests, even if much of it went over my head! The whole show was very Megan and reflected the playful but meaningful relationship she has with James...we wish them both happy ever after!
