The organisers of the Mars Badminton Horse Trials have announced that Her Majesty The Queen will attend this year's 75th anniversary event.

The Queen, who is Patron of British Equestrian, will join the celebrations on Sunday, May 12th to watch the final show jumping phase of the competition before presenting prizes to the winners.

Badminton Horse Trials was started in 1949 by the 10th Duke of Beaufort, Master of the Horse for the Royal Family and a passionate fox-hunter, to prepare British riders for Olympic Games. Great Britain are the reigning Olympic champions in eventing and will be preparing to defend their title in Paris this summer.
