Swalcliffe Park Equestrian is a family run business close to Banbury that hosts various competitions from Pony Club & Riding Club to British Eventing competitions as well as offering cross country schooling facilities.

With over 120 cross country elements set around this farm on the edge of the Cotswolds, it is not surprising that it attracts over 4000 cross country riders during the season as riders can always be assured of well-built fences by Olympic course builder and Swalcliffe Park director, Richard Taylor.

Through his partnership with David Evans (DERT), Richard was involved with the Mike Etherington-Smith-designed track at the 2008 Olympics in Hong Kong and have been chosen as builders for designer Derek di Grazia in Tokyo. These experienced course builders have designed and built the fences at Swalcliffe Park with a view to educating and encouraging both horse and rider.

Last year the event was sadly cancelled due to weather conditions but it is normally a very good event for lower level riders or horses starting their season. The course will be suitable for first timers with a good variety of educational fences for young horses and there will be a BE80T Trainer will be on hand for those requiring advice in the BE80 Sections.

The cross country runs over undulating permanent pasture, well drained grassland and is an exciting viewing course for spectators.

On Sunday there will be an BE100 U18 Qualifier run for the South West and Central Region; in 2017 Connie Wheeler and Loris Concerto won this class and you can watch their winning ride in our cross country video below
