There can never be another Willingapark Clifford – the superstar four-time CCI5* winner ridden by Hazel Shannon, whose latest win came in May 2025 at the Adelaide Equestrian Festival.
But there is one thing that comes close and that’s the just released ‘Clifford - the 5 Star Fundraising Pony!’
To celebrate the history-making achievements of WillingaPark Clifford and his rider Hazel Shannon, the Adelaide Equestrian Festival has launched ‘Clifford’ who will join ‘Peppermint Fred’ in the stable of the Adelaide Equestrian Festival’s hardworking fundraising ‘ponies’
Peppermint Fred gets his name from the late Gillian Rolton's beloved dual Olympic gold medal horse, Peppermint Grove, whose stable name was Fred. During Gill's two year battle with endometrial cancer, she set up a new partnership between the Australian International 3 Day Event (now Adelaide Equestrian Festival) and the Cancer Council SA.
Now both ‘Clifford’ and ‘Peppermint Fred’ will help raise funds for the Festival’s annual Charity Partner. In 2026 the Adelaide Equestrian Festival will once again be supporting the Cancer Council of SA as the official charity partner - proceeds of every sale go towards cancer prevention, research and support in South Australia.
