William Fox-Pitt, winner of 14 five-star titles – more than any other rider in eventing history – announced his retirement from the top end of the sport at Badminton Horse Trials 2024.
Heading into the final day at Badminton in second place on board Grafennacht, William didn’t manage to clinch his third Badminton title, but the pair had secured a win shortly before at Burnham Market International – their last win together before William’s retirement.

Tom McEwen ended 2024 as the FEI World Number One Eventing rider with 552 points after a highly successful year, winning team gold at Paris 2024 and enjoying three podium finishes at CCI5* level.
Tom and Brookfield Quality took third place at the final 5* of 2024 at Les Etoiles de Pau and started the international competition year with a win at CCI2* level at Thoresby International.
