Following the cancellation of their March event due to, not as you would imagine, Covid-19 or even bushfire, but rain and floods this time, the general feeling at this weekend’s Berrima Horse Trials in the Southern Highlands of NSW was relief that the event had managed to go ahead at all

Numbers were capped and the classes only ran up to CCN1* but, for those riders who may not be heading to Sydney International or Equestriad in May, this was the perfect timing for a run.

One benefit of the area’s heavy rain in recent months was the lush green grass cover on cross country and the top five competitors in the Southern Highland Toyota CCN1* breezed around the track without time penalties.

The overnight leader, Amy Roberts riding Ironstone Cooper started on a very impressive dressage score of 18.5 but added cross country time penalties to finish in sixth place while Alexander Seppelt riding Fairview Metallica won the class on their dressage score of 23. Junior riders filled the top three places with Gemma Silk riding WS Raising Roxy and Ella Silk riding Go Theodorable in third place

Congratulations to Alexander who wins one of our cross country videos along with the other lucky Junior winners of our prizes!
