If you’re looking for eventing under a big blue sky this weekend, Tamworth in northern NSW, Australia is the place to be

We’re filming at Tamworth International CCN ODE this weekend which takes place at the Australian Equine and Livestock Centre in Tamworth, a city located almost halfway between Sydney and Brisbane – quite appropriate considering that Brisbane 2032 is celebrating 10 Years To Go this weekend, Sydney 2000 was the last Australian Olympic Games and it may well be that some competing here this weekend are aiming to represent Australia at its next Olympic Games

Some fun facts for you completely unrelated to eventing - Tamworth is known as the "First Town of Lights", being the first place in Australia to use electric street lights in 1888 and is also famous as the "Country Music Capital of Australia", annually hosting the Tamworth Country Music Festival; the second-biggest country music festival in the world after Nashville.

But Tamworth is also recognised as the National Equine Capital of Australia because of the high number of equine events held in the city, particularly in western and rodeo but also two events a year held by Tamworth International Eventing, and the its world-class Australian Equine and Livestock Events Centre, the biggest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Completed in 2008, AELEC has an 80 x 40 indoor arena seating 3,360 people, two undercover 66 x 25m arenas, a 100 x 100m Ebb and Flow Arena with 70m x 30m warm up arena, stables for over 478 horses (each stable block has wash bay facilities at the camping end), a covered stud livestock-selling area with seating for 660 people and truck and camping facilities for 195 vehicles

So we thought we’d give you a quick glimpse of what this enormous facility is like with a few photos and we’ll be back during the week with a full wrap up of the eventing action at Tamworth CCN4*
