Entries are open for the 2026 Canberra International Horse Trials (20th – 22nd March) and they are flooding in (if you’ll pardon the pun).

It may have been one of the driest periods in Australia but the Saturday before entries opened, flash flooding occurred in the part of Canberra that is home to the Equestrian Park. Significant damage was caused with some dressage arenas left unusable and cross country jumps being redistributed around the grounds by the rapidly rising water.

With less than a month to go before their international horse trials, the organising committee adjusted the schedule for the upcoming event and entries are currently being limited in case repairs cannot be done to the dressage arenas in time.

The event, which hosts classes from EvA65 to CCI4*-S, is capping entries in the EvA65 and EvA80 classes, with a waiting list for these classes. Hopefully, if works progress as quickly as the organisers hope, waitlisted riders will be accommodated.

“We are hopeful that all five dressage arenas will be repaired and ready for our event” says event organiser Kate Mackenzie “If we can pull this off, some 65 and 80 dressage will run on Saturday”

One good thing about the deluge is that the Park is now looking beautifully green! So get your entries in on Nominate and we’ll see there!
