The Gow-Gates Young Event Horse Festival and CCN ODE will wrap up the 2025 NSW Eventing calendar this weekend.

Taking place at the beautiful boutique venue of Wallaby Hill Farm, Robertson in the Southern Highlands of NSW, Australia on 6th & 7th December the focus of the event is on the equine stars of the future with three specific Young Event Horse Classes.

Running alongside the national eventing classes from EvA80 – CCN2* are:

Lalak Equestrian 4YO & 5YO Young Horse Class - EvA 95

Cavalor Equicare 5YO & 6YO Young Horse Class - CCN1*-S

Discovery Floats 6YO & 7YO Young Horse Class - CCN2*-S

All horses entered in the Young Horse Classes are automatically entered in the Gow-Gates Young Event Horse Championship, a class marked on style by the panel of three judges – Emma Flegman, Chris Burton and Sharon Ridgway - who will be watching all the horses through all three phases of competition.

The score sheet for the Young Event Horse Championship is weighted to the Cross-Country phase, which will be live streamed back to the judges as ultimately to be a good eventing horse you need to be good at all three disciplines but excel in the cross-country phase. With that in mind, the Young Event Horse Champion does not necessarily have to have won their age class, instead it will be the horse that the judges feel most exemplifies the best potential young eventer.

Over 200 competitors are heading to the Southern Highlands this weekend to compete across the classes and we’ll be keeping you updated as how it is all going!

An Eventful Life will be filming all horses and riders on cross country at Wallaby Hill – order or view cross country videos here
